MMA was founded by Cornelius Monahan (the father) and Ronald Monahan (his son). They were both accountants. They initially took care of the administrative needs of foreign investors that had started up commercial ventures in Venezuela, principally companies in the petroleum industry.

Because of their bi-cultural roots(U.S.A-Venezuela), Monahan Mijares allied itself with international auditing and law firms that required business solutions for their clients.
